PPC staff Sandra Rathwell RMT

Sandra Rathwell – Registered Massage Therapist

Sandra has dedicated the majority of her 20-year career to the thriving town of Whistler, BC. During her time in Whistler, she and her partner established All Season’s Sports Massage, a company that operated two clinics—one in the Delta Hotel and another in the main village. These clinics employed a team of 24 registered massage therapists working alongside Sandra.

As her career progressed, Sandra expanded her endeavors by establishing a four-room spa at the renowned Chateau Whistler. This initial venture blossomed into a 13-room spa by 1997, known as The Spa at Chateau Whistler, thanks to Sandra’s design contributions and her ability to attract strategic partners. The spa flourished under Sandra’s leadership, employing 42 registered massage therapists and 35 additional employees who assisted in its operation. In 2004, Sandra made the decision to sell her shares of the spa to her partner, Bruce Croxon, a well-known figure from Dragon’s Den. Mr. Croxon subsequently leveraged his expertise to build an additional six spas under the Vida Wellness brand.

Sandra holds a deep reverence for her profession as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and derives great satisfaction from helping others. Over her 30-year career as an RMT, she has actively pursued professional development opportunities, further enriching her skill set. She devoted over six years to studying Ayurveda medicine, making The Spa at Chateau Whistler the pioneer in offering these treatments across Canada. Additionally, she pursued Shiatsu training immediately after graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. She also invested time in studying at the Hoffman Institute and engaging in a week of therapy healing.

Sandra’s quest for knowledge extends beyond the realms of massage therapy. She has pursued studies in nutrition and wellness at Simon Fraser University and specifically focused on cancer patients with their nutritional and wellness needs. Her specialization includes a wide range of massage techniques such as Deep Tissue massage, Myofascial therapy, and targeted rehabilitation for the lower back, hips, and neck. Furthermore, she is well-versed in alternative healing modalities, reflecting her comprehensive knowledge in this area.

Sandra has been an integral part of the Penticton Pain Clinic, a nurturing and healing environment. Owned by the Physiotherapist, Patrice Kong, the clinic boasts an exceptional team.
